Your Weekly Check-In

October 13, 2023

Hi Reader,

Take some time to reflect on this past week before the you head into the weekend.

This practice is a tool to help you keep track of your relationship to work, yourself, and your boundaries. Use the questions below as a guide to help you reflect on the week.

Questions

  1. How did you stay aligned with your values this week?
  2. What help did you ask for this week?
  3. What from this week must you release before you can tend to your joy this weekend?
  4. What boundaries and practices will help you release what must be released?
  5. How will you commit to joy this weekend?

Set Yourself up for Rest:

At some point during our growth, people are encouraged to abandon their imaginations to live in the “real world,” where everything is rational, whimsy is irrelevant, and the truth is cold and hard.

I don’t know about you, but this doesn't work for me.

Imagination is an integral part of the ecosystem through which futures are born. We need to be able to see possibilities for change in order to know what we are working towards. This is one of the reasons why I love sci-fi and fantasy so much. These genres help open my eyes to the ways other people envision possibility.

At the same time, these genres highlight the ways my own exhaustion limits my imagination. They help me to imagine outcomes for myself that I never would have seen on my own.

What helps you see the limits of your imagination while empowering you to stretch them?

This weekend, seek the edges of your imagination. Trace their outlines with your mind’s eye and ask yourself whether you’d like to see beyond them.

If the answer is yes, seek out inspiration in media that inspires you to think creatively. If the answer is no, revel in your mind’s creative capacity.

Cheers to taking this moment for yourself!

See you next week.

Peace,

Taj

What's the What? November 2023 Hi Reader, This month's insights did not come easily. I closed this screen as many times as I opened it, hoping something would relevant would emerge. All that came was grief. I've said it before: this is a moment of collective grief. How do we stay present to the moment when it's painful? I have no easy answers and can only assure you that I am wondering alongside you. I just finished watching Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix and came out of it feeling...
